Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has warned Manchester United that they are interest in joining Timo Werner over a move to Old Town. Trafford is not doing well for either side.
Sport Bild previously reported that the German striker may have found a way to join United because Sacha Lenze, a sports psychologist who is the father of girlfriend Paula Magdelina Lense, is one. In Ralph Rangnick’s staff that may help persuade him to join the team as Rangnick is also fond of Werner.
However, in Johnson’s view, the signing of Manchester United’s Werner was not a good move for either side.
“To be honest, I don’t think it will be a good move for either side,” Johnson told Betting Odds.com. “I don’t think it’s a good move for Manchester United and I don’t think it’s a good move for Timo Werner.”
“It seems United want to sign players in that position which is crazy, for me to sign Jadon Sancho in a position they don’t want and they have Ronaldo, Greenwood and Cara. Vani, obviously they can’t get everyone to play and make everyone happy.”
“For Timo, to be successful he has to play somewhere he plays every week and at Manchester United he won’t get that.”
